Wifi in Nuuk
Wifi in the western world is widely available, but not so much in Nuuk. This is the reality. However, there are a few places where ‘free wifi’ is available. But do not let that hold you back from visiting us! A break from 3G and wifi may be just what the doctor ordered to relax. But if you do need a bit of that internet connection while you are here, the following places are the internet hotspots for you.
Kaffivik
Kaffivik cafe serves and roasts their own high-quality coffee in Nuuk (maybe even in all of Kalaallit Nunaat), they also have ‘free Wifi.’ This is the perfect place to sip your freshly made coffee while surfing the internet for things to do in Nuuk.
The Nuuk Library
In Nuuk city centre, you’ll likely find a bunch of people gathered outside a green building while staring at their phones. There’s a perfectly logical reason for this, it’s the free wifi! 3G is super expensive in Kalaallit Nunaat, so a lot of locals stop by the library, or go into the Library to check their phones while they are out and about. You can too as this is available for everyone.
Inuk Hostels
If you love staying in cute wooden huts, soaking in an outdoor jacuzzi, hanging out in a sauna or eating delicious local foods while learning about Inuit food history (read more here) and you love being online, Inuk Hostels is the right place for you. And you can download various online maps, or even go the old school route and use an actual paper map (free tourist maps are available in many of places). Either way, we look forward to meeting you while you explore Nuuk!
